Lauren and Tyler's modern wedding at the rustic Dixie Gin venue in North Louisiana was one for the books! I actually met Tyler at Rhino Coffee where I was a barista at the time... I had seen on Instagram through mutual friends (kind of weird I know , can we just all acknowledge that social media and the inter webs are creepy and we all know things about one another that we would never know otherwise... let's just get that out of the way) ANYWAY I had seen on IG that he and Lauren were recently engaged. I handed him his coffee, but I also handed him my card and told him that if they needed a florist , I was their gal.
Lauren contacted me within the next couple of days. I was excited they had reached out to me so quickly, and I immediately began creating a proposal for her, based on her personalized questionnaire answers. She said she had a love for greenery and neutral florals.. Same here girl, done and done. Or so I thought.
We set up a meeting to discuss further details and when Lauren (Lo) told me that she was a designer, EVERYTHING I had in mind for their wedding changed. Queue the screeching tire sound clip. The more we talked, the more I realized this cool chick deserved something more modern and funky for her big day- which was entirely different from the romantic and garden inspired ideas I had included on her original proposal. YES YES HOORAY HECK YES!
I LOVE the process of getting to know my brides. We usually meet over coffee and snacks. I eat most of the snacks. I make awkward jokes. I ask loads of questions that are probably too personal (just kidding maybe). We scroll through their pinterest feeds- and not just their wedding boards. I want to understand their personal style. I want to see pictures of their kitchen design inspiration. I want to know their favorite nail polish color; their favorite concert they've attended....etc. Because all those little things help me understand what makes them uniquely THEM. Getting to know my brides helps me create magic for their wedding day. Because after all, when the big day comes, It's not the Meghan Awalt show! It's THEIR time to shine - and I want my florals to be a reflection of their amazing personal style. And trust me. Meghan Awalt's brides have. STYLE . y'all.
To Lauren and Tyler, thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful wedding. I wish you joy in every moment of your beautiful, stylish, new life together. Cheers to the #PowellRangers !
